This child's care
From January 2026 every family gets at least 3 days (72 hours/fortnight) of subsidised care — no recognised-participation (formerly "activity test") requirement. "2nd or younger child" gives the higher rate when you have more than one child aged 5 or under in care.

Uses current Services Australia rates for 2026–27: the maximum Child Care Subsidy of 90% for combined family income up to $88,520, reducing by 1 percentage point per $5,000 to 0% at $538,520; the higher rate for a second or younger child aged 5 or under (the standard rate plus 30 percentage points, up to 95%, ending at $370,727); the hourly rate caps of $15.19 below school age / $13.30 school age (centre-based day care and outside school hours care) and $14.08 (family day care); and the 3-Day Guarantee of at least 72 hours of subsidised care per fortnight (100 with higher activity). The second/younger-child higher rate is an ESTIMATE (Services Australia works it out under a separate income test); confirm your exact rate with Services Australia. It is a guide only and excludes the Additional Child Care Subsidy and individual circumstances; at upper-middle incomes the higher (second-child) rate can taper below the flat 30-point uplift shown, so treat the higher-rate figure as an upper estimate and confirm with Services Australia.
